Winifred Evelyn "Winnie" Josey McIlvried 29 Oct 1931 - 19 Jan 2011

 

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Entered into rest on January 19, 2011, Mrs. Winifred "Winnie" Josey McIlvried, of 208 Hillcrest Drive, North Augusta, SC. She was preceded in death by her husband, F. L. "Mike" McIlvried, a sister, Glenda Fay Josey, and two brothers, Edwin "Buck" Josey and Hugh Josey.
Mrs. McIlvried was born in
Washington, GA to the late Lewis Eugene and Lorena Smith Josey. She retired from The Augusta Chronicle as a composing artist with twenty five years of service and was a member of Bath First Baptist Church and their Adult Sunday School Class, the CMH Circle and the Joy Group. She was a member of the Red Hats, Harold F. Adkison Chapter #255, of the Korean War Veterans Association.
Surviving are two daughters, Cathy Neal (the late Jim), North Augusta, SC and Lisa Ann McIlvried, Aiken, SC; a son, Steven McIlvried (Barbara), North Augusta, SC; two sisters, Sarah Hicks, North Augusta, SC and Rachel Meadows, Augusta, GA; a brother, Verlon Josey, Sandersville, GA and three grandchildren, Joshua McIlvried, Kelly Jo McIlvried and Caleb McIlvried.
Funeral services will be on Saturday at
2 p.m. in the Bath First Baptist Church with Rev. Herb Sons officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Hicks, Glynn Hicks, Jerry Hicks, Chris Josey, Tod Thomas, Eddie Josey, Randy Josey, Lewis Josey and Gerald Meadows.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Cromer and Chris Palmer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to
Bath First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 240, Bath, SC 29816.
Friends may call at the residence or on Friday evening from 6 until
8 p.m. at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, U.S. Hwy. No. 1, Langley, S.C.
