WALTER R. JOSEY Sr.
MAIDEN - Walter Raeford Josey Sr., 69, of N.C. 16 South, Maiden, went to be with His Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 10, 2005.
Born
Feb. 27, 1936, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late William Eli Josey and Mary Ethel Smith Josey Hannon.
He dearly loved his family. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and served in the Korean War. He owned and operated Josey Electrical Repair for 29 years and tried to help everyone he could.
He was a charter member of
Mount Anderson Baptist Church in Maiden, where he was a former deacon. He was a member of the N.C. Board of Refrigeration Examiners and I.B.E.W.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Charlie, Gene and Austin Josey.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Drum Josey of Maiden; a son, Walter “Hoot” Josey Jr. and wife, Susanna, of Maiden; four daughters, Tanya J. Sumner and husband, Alan, of Catawba, Cynthia “Cindy” J. Self and husband, Jr., of Vale, Reba S. Josey and fiance, Michael Hendrick, of Lincolnton and Myleah D. Josey and fiance, Elvin Thompson, of Maiden; three brothers, Howard Josey, Clyde Josey and Billy Hannon; two sisters, MaryJane Hefner and Martha Sue Poarch; a special brother, J.C. “Pete” Jones; grandchildren, Candy A. Saunders and husband, Mark, Jennifer J. Jarrell and husband, Wesley, Brandon Tyler  “B.T.” Josey, Courtney L. Sumner, Rusty L. Self, Amanda and Emily Hendrick, David Nash, Jerrica Nash and Melinda Nash; two great-grandchildren, Jada Jarrell and Natalie Bolin; and many special friends.
The funeral service will be held
Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Mount Anderson Baptist Church in Maiden, with the Revs. Charles Ingle and Rick Jackson officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military graveside rites.
The family will receive friends tonight, Tuesday, from
6 to 8 p.m. at Mount Anderson Baptist Church in Maiden.
