Viola Josey “Sis” Waugh, age 71, of Hwy. 90 East, Hiddenite, died Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at her residence following an extended illness. She was born in Iredell County September 3, 1932, the daughter of the late Mack C. Josey and Venie Mitchell Josey. She was retired from Blue Bell and was a member of Hiddenite United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Melvin “Andy” Waugh; four brothers, Roy Josey, Richard “Dick” Josey, Charles Josey, and Allen Josey; and one sister, Evelyn J. Lowrance.
Survivors include one son, James Michael Waugh of the home; one daughter, Linda W. Williams and husband Chris of Hiddenite; one brother, Jimmy Josey and wife Sandy of Statesville; one sister, Mary Wiles and husband Dan of Statesville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Pearlie Mae Hoke and Debbie Wells. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 29, 2004, at 11:00 a.m.at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel in
Stony Point with Rev. Arlie Roten officiating. Burial will follow in the Hiddenite Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at Chapman Funeral Home. At other times, the family will assemble at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Iredell County,
