Vernon Ernest Jossy

 

Thousand Oaks, CA

 

Vernon Ernest Jossy, a 48-year resident of Thousand Oaks, CA, entered into eternal life on October 30, 2015, at the age of 90.

 

The son of Emil and Esther Jossy, Vernon was born May 4, 1925 in Hillsboro, OR. He was raised on the family farm in Gales Creek , OR, and graduated from Forest Grove High School in 1943. At 19, he enlisted into the Army Air Corps, graduated from Flight School, and proudly served during World War II. He married Vida James from Gales Creek in 1949, and they moved to San Francisco, CA. In 1955, Vernon earned his Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Golden Gate College. He spent an interesting career as a Special Agent for the F.B.I., assigned to offices in Butte, MT, Chicago, IL, and W. Los Angeles, CA, from where he retired in 1976.

 

Vernon enjoyed his retirement and lived his life to the fullest. He was an active member of theThousand Oaks Elks Lodge for many years. He was a true dog-lover, and doted on his Cocker Spaniels Bucky and Cathy Leigh. He loved collecting stamps, attending jazz festivals, traveling, camping, and "feeding the ponies" at Santa Anita Racetrack.

 

Preceding Vernon into eternal life were his parents Emil and Esther Jossy, brother Wade Jossy, wives Vida and Marilynn, and granddaughter Shelley Ainsworth.

 

Vernon is survived by his sisters Vivian Jossy and Melba Harmon (David), daughters Karen Wilson (Jim) and Sharon Ainsworth (Tom), son Terry Jossy, grandsons Jared Wilson, Justin Wilson and Matthew Ainsworth, and his beloved nieces, nephews and their children.

 

Vernon will forever be lovingly remembered for his kind and generous nature and will be dearly missed. Services are pending in Forest Grove, OR. Donations may be made in Vernon's memory to Ventura County Animal Services.
