Vannie Marie Josey Carroll

               

EARLINGTON, Ky. –– Vannie Josey Carroll, 86, of Earlington, died at 2:55 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Senior Citizens Nursing Home.

She was born in Mortons Gap, Ky., on Nov. 15, 1913, to the late G.L. and Pearl Dukes Josey.

She worked for over forty years as the manager of her family’s grocery and was a member of First Christian Church in Earlington where she served as a deaconess and was long-time member of the Chancel Choir and the Christian Woman’s Fellowship. She was also a member of Earlington Business and Professional Women’s Club and the Hopkins County Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Carroll; one sister; and one brother.

She is survived by two sons, Wayne Carroll of Louisville, Ky., and Donald Carroll of Madisonville; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church in Earlington with the Rev. Roger Peadro and Dr. Jim Childs officiating. Burial will follow in Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonville.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today and from 9 until 11 a.m. on Sunday at Reid-Walters Funeral Home, and from noon until service time on Sunday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Scott Carroll, Chad Carroll, Bob Durham, Troy Devine, Josh Gaines, and Jason Stephens. The elders and deacons of First Christian Church in Earlington will serve as honorary pallbearers.
