Mr. Thomas Lamar Daniel, age 77, of Morningside Drive, in Sandersville, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11A.M. at the Sisters Baptist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Burt Parker and Rev. Jimmy Harris will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Terry Torrez, Raymond Pounds, Frank Garbutt,
Dan Henry, David Dollar, Chris Dollar, Carlton Parker, Kelvin Prosser, Joe B.
Giles and Lamar Hawkins. Honorary pallbearers will be the Silent Seekers Sunday
School Class of Sisters Baptist Church. -Mr. Daniel was born in Washington
County and was a lifelong resident of Sandersville the son of the
late Chester Arthur Daniel and the late Kate Brookins
Daniel. He was a four year veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving
during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Daniel was a retired track foreman serving 37
years with the Kaolin Industry at American Industrial Clay Company, Georgia
Kaolin and E.C.C.I. "Mr. Coon", as he was called by friends, was the
owner of the Sandersville Pawn Shop during retirement. Mr. Daniel was a member
of the Sisters Baptist Church where he served as deacon, usher and president of the
Silent Seeker Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Forace Daniel and Alton Daniel and a sister Eugenia Daniel
Shirley. -Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Iola Josey Daniel; one son
Thomas Jay Daniel and his wife Lynn of Douglas; one sister, Frances D. Dollar
of Sandersville; brothers, W.C. Daniel, Horace M. Daniel and Charles M. Daniel,
all of Sandersville; and a special friend Denise Parker of Tennille. -The
family will be at the Daniel resident on Morningside Drive in Sandersville and will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the
May and Smith Funeral Home. -The family suggests that donations be made to the
Alzheimer's Association , c/o Peggy Day, 6703 Highway
