Ruby Alberta Fox Josey Obit 21 Dec 1918

 

Ruby Fox "Sis" Josey, 84, formerly of 105 Bowen Drive and a resident of Britthaven Nursing Home for the past four years, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at Thomasville Memorial Hospital following a period of declining health. She was born April 18, 1918, in Alexander County and was the daughter of the late George Roscoe Fox and Dessie Little Fox. In April 1934 she married Glenn E. Josey, who preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 1979. A lifelong member of Front Street Baptist Church, she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also the owner of Josey Laundry and Josey Fabric Shop and also helped her husband with the operation of Josey's Gulf. She attended the Alexander and Iredell County schools. Survivors include a daughter, Susan J. Bess and husband, Rickey, of Lexington; a brother, Carl Graden Fox and wife, Lina, of Hickory; two sisters, Bonnie F. Freeze and Betty Jean Pennell and husband, Don, of Statesville; two granddaughters, Lauren and Alicia Bess of Lexington. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Glenn E. Josey, Jr., and two daughters, Debra M. Josey and Shelby Jane Josey. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 23, 2002, at Front Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Bontrager and the Rev. Darren Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. yesterday at Nicholson Funeral Home. At other times the family will assemble at the home of Terry and Gaye Fox, 105 Bowen Drive, Statesville, her former residence. Pallbearers will be Shane Fox, Tony Fox, Donnie Pennell, Brian Fox, Brad Fox, Mike Fox and Wesley Loudemilk. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Seeking the Future, c/o Front Street Baptist Church, 1403 West Front St., Statesville, NC 28677.
