Roy L. Owen, 87, of Granbury, formerly of Meridian, died October 23, 2014, in a Fort Worth nursing facility. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 25, in Meridian Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Roy was born in Meridian, Texas, to the late Willis Clinton Owen and Ethel E. Durham Owen. He was raised in Meridian where he graduated from high school. At the age of 16, he moved to Ft. Worth to work. He started as a welder and worked up to become a foreman, production superintendent, and then vice-president of Mid-Texas Mfg. Company. On February 18, 1949, Roy was united in marriage to Dorothy Josey in Weatherford, Texas. In 1980, he and a partner opened R-O Mfg. Co., a sheet metal fabrication plant. In 1987, Roy retired and moved to Granbury in 1989 He was a member of the Granbury First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Imogene Roberts and Patsy Mize; and brother, Arville Owen.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of Granbury; daughter, Teresa Pels and her husband, Billy, of Ft. Worth; son, Mike Owen and his wife, Diane, of Ft. Worth; grandchildren: Greg Pels and wife, Stephanie, of Leander, Kyle Pels, of Ft. Worth, Marisa Pels, of Richardson, Myranda Miller and husband, Richard, of Ft. Worth, Valery Ackley and husband, Jeff, of Carrollton, and Aubrey Owen, of Crowley; great-grandchildren: Owen and Chloe Pels, Eli Miller; number of other relatives and friends.
