Ronald Victor Josey, 80, a longtime resident of Bay Ridge died Dec. 2 at Spa Creek Center, Genesis ElderCare Network.

Mr. Victor was born May 11, 1923, in Washington, D.C., and graduated from the former Hyattsville High School in 1942.

He retired from the U.S. Treasury where he worked for 25 years as printing manager. Following retirement, he worked for Anne Arundel County as a bailiff.

While living in Cheverly, he spent his summers in Bay Ridge. He was an active member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and coached Catholic Youth Organization basketball teams. He was also a member of the Bay Ridge Civic Association and coordinated bingo games in the community for many years.

In addition to crabbing and playing horseshoes, he enjoyed driving the tractor in the Bay Ridge July 4th Parade.

Surviving are his wife, Caroline Ervin Josey, whom he married in 1944; one son, Stephen E. Josey of Annapolis; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was the father of the late Ronald Victor Josey Jr.

Visitation will be from 2:30 to 4:30 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road. Burial will follow in St. Anne's Cemetery.
