Nellie Faye Josey Salter


1935 - 2009

Faye Josey Salter, age 74 of
Pensacola, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 17, 2009. Mrs. Salter was a native of Bonifay, FL, but has been a resident of Pensacola most of her life. She was a member of Farm Hill Holiness Church. She was a proud Native American member of the Florida Band of Eastern Creek Indians.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil A. Salter, Sr.; a son, George Larry Nixon; her parents, Clarence and Bessie Josey; two sisters, Beatrice Bass and Jeanette Hanks; brother, L.D. Josey and a special niece, Diane Taylor.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Ronnie Grissett; son and a daughter-in-law, Cecil A. Jr. and Debbie Salter; sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Doug Croll; granddaughter, Mandy Diamond; two step grandsons, Matt and Josh Sanders; great-granddaughters, Makala, Anna and Elly; two brothers, Cecil Turnbull and Lilboy Daniels; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Andy Turnbull, David Turnbull, Tony Hanks, Len Salter, Michael Reed and Claude Peake.
Funeral Services will be at
11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with Bro. Robert Porter and Bro. Richard Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Range Cemetery in Deer Range, AL.
FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME SOUTH,
100 Beverly Parkway, is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on
Tuesday, April 21, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
