Josey, Nancy
Joyce, 57 of Halifax, passed away peacefully at the QE II Health Science
Center on December 31, 2010 surrounded by her family. Born August 5, 1953 in Halifax, she was the daughter of Roy L. Josey
and the late Joyce Dorothy ( Fraser) Josey. Nancy lived with Spina
Bifida from birth. She was proud to have independent
living in her adult life. Nancy graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School followed by a long career with the Victoria General Hospital. She was a volunteer with the Spina Bifida Association, the
Mental Health Association, the Access-A Bus Advisory and a club member of
Sharing & Caring. She was an avid collector and enjoyed special times with
her beautiful cat " Lori". Nancy was a former "Miss Easter
Seals" and a past member of The Special Olympics. She had recently become
a participant in Wheelchair Curling. Nancy was often seen cruising Spring Garden Rd in her wheelchair. Predeceased by her
mother, she is survived by her loving father Roy, sister
Sharron, brothers David (Sharon Clarke), Harris
(Laura), Ron (Terri Zinck), as well as aunts, uncles
and many nieces & nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Gus
Grant, who Nancy considered one of
her favorite people, and Marg Murphy of CMHA, who was
a special friend.
Cremation has taken place in accordance with Nancy's wishes. Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, with the
celebration of Nancy's life to be held on Wednesday, January 5 at 1 p.m., both at Cruikshank's
