Mary Lee Josey, 93 of Atmore, Ala., formerly of Turkey Creek Community of Lee County, S.C., died Saturday February 26, 2011, at her daughter's residence. She was born in Chesterfield County, S.C., to Walter and Sara Henderson Roscoe on September 25, 1917. Mrs. Josey was a well-known nurse in the Lee County area,was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church, United Methodist Woman, homemaker, community volunteer and, above all, a dedicated mother, wife and friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. "Jack" Josey Sr.; four brothers and five sisters.

Survivors are one son, James J. "Jack" Josey Jr and wife, Mary, of Hartsville, S.C.; one daughter, Susan Smith and husband, Clint, of Atmore, Ala.; three grandchildren, Shaw and Leslie Bryson, Mike Josey; three great-grandsons; and one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Jarvis Roscoe of Patrick, S.C.; many nephews and nieces; and a special caregiver, Pat Goodwin.

Service will be held at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, Bishopville, S.C., on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will follow later.

At her and her family's request, in lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory may be made to Turkey Creek Cemetery, P.O. Box 61, Bethune, SC 29009 (Attn: Kershaw Graham, treasurer.)
