Mary Elizabeth Josey
Munn
SPARTANBURG, SC-- Mary Elizabeth Josey Munn of Spartanburg, passed away on Saturday,
September 15, 2012. She was born in Bishopville, SC on November
29, 1910,
to James Arthur and Annie McCoy Josey. She was educated in the Bishopville
school system and graduated from Winthrop College. Mary was the widow
of John Alden Munn, retired FBI agent. They moved to Spartanburg in 1945, as Mr.
Munn was transferred to open the first FBI office there, and remained. Mary's
life was one of service and devotion to her family. She was filled with grace
and passed her quiet spirit of strength, kindness, and love to all. She was a
big fan of the Atlanta Braves, the Chicago Bulls, and politics.
Mary is survived by her four children, Dr. John A. Munn, Jr. of Landrum, Mary
Ann Munn of Spartanburg, Dr. James W. Munn (Olga) of Spartanburg, and Martha M.
Strickland (Charles) of Walterboro. She lovingly called Frannie
J. Jordan "her daughter #3". Her grandchildren are Jamie, Marisa,
Allyson Munn, and Kyle Strickland. Her great-grandchildren are Chaley and Chloe Munn. She also leaves behind a very dear
friend, Helen Cross Bryant.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 29 at 1:00
PM
at Trinity United Methodist Church in Spartanburg, where Mary was the
longest living member. Dr. Stephen Holler will conduct the services. The family
will receive guests in the sanctuary after the services.
