Linnell Bruce Josey, 85, died Saturday, April 2, 2011.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Scotland Neck. Interment will follow at the Trinity Episcopal Cemetery. Father Ted Malone will be presiding.

Linnell was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was the daughter of the late Lieutenant General Andrew Davis Bruce and Roberta Kennedy Bruce, and was married to the late Claude Kitchin Josey, Sr. Linnell was past president of the Sir Walter Cabinet and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where she served on the Vestry. She was also a member of the Junior League, Daughters of the King, and Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by her daughter, Roberta Linnell Josey of Raleigh; sons, Claude Kitchin "Joey" Josey, Jr. and wife Debbie and Robert Bruce Josey, Sr. and wife Paula all of Scotland Neck; seven grandchildren, Linnell Vaughan Compton and husband Chris, Anna Josey Kemp, William Powell Kemp, IV and wife Miriam, Claude Kitchin Josey, III and wife Pammy, Everett Logan Josey and wife Sarah, Robert Bruce Josey, Jr., and John Andrew Josey; and two great-grandchildren, Kennedy Linnell Compton and Ava James Kemp.

The family received friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the home of Joey and Debbie Josey, 7799 Mary Chapel Road, Scotland Neck.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 372, Scotland Neck, NC 27874.

Arrangements are being handled by Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
