OBITUARY

Kathryn Guarisco Josey

FEBRUARY 12, 1958 – DECEMBER 11, 2022

Kathryn Guarisco Josey, born February 12, 1958, passed away in Montgomery, Alabama on

December 11, 2022 into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ. As a Christian woman of

deep faith, Kathryn invested her life and love into hundreds of people who were the recipients of

her prayers. A faithful member of First Baptist Church Montgomery for over 36 years, where she

sang in the choir, led Bible studies, taught Sunday school, and blessed everyone she met by her

wisdom and smile.

Kathryn was a person of many talents. She graduated from Samford University in Birmingham,

Alabama with a masters degree in counseling. She had a long career at The Montgomery

Academy as the Lower School counselor, where she was known for her strong connections to

colleagues and her love for children. Her devotion to her relationships was only rivaled by her

passion for cooking. As an accomplished gourmet cook, she would spend countless hours

making culinary delights for her family and friends.

Kathryn counted her family as her greatest treasure, particularly her son Michael. She was the

daughter of the late Peter Guarisco, and is survived by her mother Norma Guarisco, sister Sylvia

Alford (husband Randy decreased), son Michael, daughter-in-law Hannah and her 9 month old

grandson Jack. Her life influence also lives on in her nephews Pace Alford, John Ehrhardt, Paul

Ehrhardt, and Luke Josey.

As she spoke over the last several months, as the shadows of her life lengthened in twilight, she

spoke of the smiles of yesterday, watered by tears. But in the evening of her memory, she always

came back to the love of her family and the love of her Savior. Always the echos and re-echos of

family and Savior.

Those of us who loved her and who take her home to her eternal rest today know with certainty

that Kathryn has crossed that glory river. Her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, has called her home.

A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at

11:00 am. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2022 in

the Stakley Sanctuary of First Baptist Church Montgomery at 2:00 pm, with visitation at 1:00
