Graveside services
for John Sherwin Josey, age 53, will be held at 10
a.m.,
Wednesday at the Kite City Cemetery. Revs.
Burton Dixon and Woodrow Beasley will officiate.
Born in Johnson County, Georgia, he was the son of
the late Henry Lee and Pauline Claxton Josey. He was a lab technician for
Imery's Kaolin Company and was the owner/operator of Josey's General Store. He
was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart having served
with the United States Army. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Kite. Mr. Josey
died early Sunday morning.
He is survived by
his children, Melinda Josey Blount and Joan Josey Blount , both of Swainsboro;
brother, Henry Claxton Josey of Harrison; sister, Neline
Farmer of Millegeville; his fiancee, Barbara Ann Jordan of Kite; and four
grandchildren, Dakota Blount, Jessica Lorraine Blount, John Russell Thornton
and Joanna Lea Thornton.
The family will
receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8:30 at the funeral
home.
Honorary escorts
will be David Fields, Alton Claxton, Clifford Claxton Jr., Sonny Norris, Eddie
Glover, Ronnie Copeland, co-workers at Imery's and employees of Josey's General
Store.
Contributions may be
made to the American Cancer Society.
