John Clinton Josey
John Josey, 62, of
McGregor, passed away Saturday, Sept. 19,
2009.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24,
at College Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. David
Thompson officiating. Interment with military honors will be at 2
p.m.
at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen under the direction
of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street in McGregor.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cole
Funeral Home. Mr. Josey was born Aug. 8, 1947, in Abilene, the son of the
late John Dupuy Jr. and Helen Adena (Beall) Josey. In 1965, he graduated from Portales High School in Portales, N.M., as a four letter
athlete. He continued his education at Lubbock Christian College on a baseball
scholarship and Eastern New Mexico University on a football
scholarship in Portales. On May 25, 1968, he married his
high school sweetheart, Connie Ruth Kull in Portales. From 1967 until his
honorable discharge in 1971, he served his country in U.S. Air Force. He served
at the Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska, and was discharged
as a sergeant. All of John's career was in law
enforcement. In 2004, he retired after 30 years of service as an inspector with
the U.S. Marshal's Service. Survivors include his wife, Connie; a son, Clinton
Paul Josey of McGregor; a daughter, Shana Lynn Black and husband, Cooper, of Arlington; a sister, Helen
Katherine Josey of San Antonio; four
grandchildren, Aaron Josey, Austin Josey, Caitlyn Black and Colten Black; and a
niece, Elizabeth Ann Pack and husband, Chris, of San Antonio. Cole Funeral Home
