Jessie Lamar Josey, 26 Aug 19435 Sep 2022

 

CW4 Lamar Josey, age 79, of Prattville AL, formerly of McKenzie, AL and Sevierville, TN passed away Monday, September 5, 2022.

 

He served in the United States Army and was a member of The Gideons International, he served as a Deacon at Evergreen Baptist Church (AL), Brewton First Baptist Church (AL) and at First Baptist Church Sevierville (TN). He worked at Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville, TN and Cravers Funeral Home in Brewton, AL; and previous to that, he worked at Ownby Hardware in Sevierville.

 

Lamar was preceded in death by his infant son, Tracy Lamar Josey; father, J.C Josey; mother, Mattie Bell Josey; brother, James Robert Josey.

 

He is survived by his wife Wanda Benefield Josey; daughters, Stefanie Josey Buccarelli of San Diego, CA, Kelley Josey Bradley (David) of Prattville, AL; grandchildren, Abbey Bradley Summerlin (Matt) of Auburn, AL, Josey Bradley of Huntsville, AL, Gracey Bradley of Prattville, AL and Gianna Buccarelli of San Diego, CA; sisters, Mary Alice Josey Gorum (Raymond), and Nell Marie Josey Lee; sister-in-law, Linda Josey; many nieces and nephews.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideons International Processing Center, P.O. Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251 or First Baptist Church Prattville, Senior Adult Ministries, 138 S. Washington St, Prattville, AL 36067.

 

The family will receive friends 12 noon 2 PM Friday, September 9, 2022 with memorial service to follow at 2 PM at First Baptist Church, Prattville, Alabama. Dr. Peyton Hill will officiate.

 

The family will receive friends 2-4 PM Sunday, September 11, 2022 with funeral service to follow at 4 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. Rev. Glenn Metts will officiate. Family and friends will meet at 12:30 PM Monday, September 12, 2022 in East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Highway, Knoxville for graveside service and interment. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 104.
