Services for James Madison Josey Jr. will be at 11
a.m.
today in Byromville United Methodist Church with burial in Swearingen Cemetery. Josey died Tuesday,
April 24, 2001.
He was the owner and operator of J.M. Josey and Sons Grocery Store from 1964
until 2000. It was the oldest family-owned store in Dooly County. He was a member of
Byromville United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Men's Bible
Class, was memorial chairman, past member of the official board, and past
secretary and treasurer for 20 years of the Sunday School. He was a member of
Woodmen of the World, Travelers Rest Lodge No. 65 F&AM and was a councilman
in Byromville for more than 50 years.
Survivors include
his wife, Mary Beth Josey; children Pat Barrett of Marshallville and Joy
Lanning of Abbeville; sisters Lois Arthur of Cuthbert, Helen Douglas of Macon; and several
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
