James Edward Josey, 20 Jun 1934 – 17 Jul 1996

 

James Edward Josey, age 62, of Route 1, Box 16, Red Level, Alabama, died Wednesday, July 17, 1996, in Ottawa, Ohio.

 

Survivors included his Wife, Ruby Josey of Red Level; daughters, Tamara Kay Badertscher of Gulf Breeze, Florida, and Terry Kay Anderson of Panama City, Florida; stepsons, Richard Warren of Belgium, Jeffery L Butler of Gaffney, South Carolina, and Kenneth Anthony Butler of Blacksburg, South Carolina; step-daughter, Tina Christina Keathley of Ninety Six, South Carolina; mother, Exa Josey of Red Level; nine grandchildren; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Loretta and Clayton Huggins of Panama City, Florida, and Eloise and Jay Ballard of Red Level.

 

Masonic services, with full military honors, will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at Fairmount Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Joyner and a U.S. Air Force chaplain officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.

 

Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Saturday and 30 minutes prior to services at the church. Pallbearers will be Masons. Honary pallbearers are Roger Rhodes, George Hughes, Ed Harmon, Kenneth Stewart, Michael Black, Randy Tolbert, Kay Simms, Gerald Mitchell, James Purnell, Red Alford, Wayne Sowell, Jack Mathis, Billy Adkison and Tim Barbaree.

Ottawa - An Alabama man was killed when his pickup truck and a train collided in Ottawa.

 

Police identified the man as James Edward Josey, 62, of Red Level, Alabama. Officers said his westbound truck and a northbound CSX freight train collided at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday at a crossing in Ottawa, 22 miles west of Findlay. Josey was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Putnam County sheriff's deputies said the crossing is equipped with flashers. Sheriff's Dispatcher Sue Williams said the addicent remained under investigation and no other details were available.
