Jake W. Josey, 85

YOUNGSTOWN – Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at Saint Luke Church for Jake W. Josey, 85, who died Sunday morning at the Hospice House.

Mr. Josey was born Nov. 26, 1922 in Tennessee, the son of Zebulan Vance and Letha Burrell Josey and moved to the area as a child.

He was a member the church. Jake was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Eastern Lodge in Buffalo, N.Y. He taught himself art and drawing.

Jake was a Navy veteran of WWII.

His first wife, the former Mary Louise Williams, whom he married Aug. 11, 1945, died in September of 1987.

He leaves his second wife, the former Rose F. Kozlwski, whom he married May 6, 1992; six daughters, Karen Casey and Kathy Estrada, both of California, Jackie (Terry) Fusco of Boardman, Susan Parsons of Madison, OH, Kimberly (Kenny) Porter of Ashtabula, and Rebecca (Anthony) Kurdzil of New York; two sons, Jay (Barb) Josey of California and Ricky (Roberta) Josey of Nevada; five sisters, Mary Daniels of Struthers, Shirley Rispinto of Campbell, Ruby Brocious of Boardman, Sandy Benson of Austintown, and Judy Isaacson of Poland; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys Bonish, Betty DeVan and Dorothy Mielia; and an infant brother.
