JACKIE WONGREY

Jackie Marcella Josey Wongrey, 95, widow of Matthew Wongrey, died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in
Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Marion Sumpter Josey and the late Theodocia Maye Josey.

She was a member of
Crosswell Baptist Church and was a former owner and operator of Wongrey's Restaurant in Sumter for many years.

Survivors include a son, Matthew Jan Wongrey and his wife, Renette of Sumter; a daughter, Teresa Thorne and her husband, Jimmy, of Sumter; three grandchildren, Matthew J. Wongrey Jr., Suzanne W. Holladay and Brittonni T. Perry; four great-grandchildren, Ashley Holladay, Tiffany Holladay, Amy Wongrey, and Joshua Wongrey; a sister, Irene Funderburke of Savannah, Ga.; and a brother-in-law, Barney Eberhardy of Sumter.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Marion Josey, Chandler Josey, Walter Josey and Lloyd Josey; three sisters, Alice J. Newman, Theodocia J. Eberhardy, Helen J. Waldhour, and twin great-grandchildren, Matthew Allen Wongrey and Andrew Zachary Wongrey.

Graveside services will be held at
11 a.m. Thursday in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Owens and the Rev. Jack Whitehead officiating.

The family will receive friends from
5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Thorne.
