Jack Emory Josey, Sr. (b. December 10, 1935) died peacefully at his home in Appling, GA after an extended illness on Saturday, August 25, 2018. He was born in Washington County but raised in Soperton, Georgia, graduating from Treutlen High School in 1955. After serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, he was an instrumentation specialist at Warner Robins AFB, later an electronics instructor at Southeastern Signal School and contract specialist at Fort Gordon, GA, retiring in 1993.

Mr. Josey is survived by his wife and the love of his life for 34 years, Mary Newsome Josey, two sons, Jack E. Josey, Jr. and Derrick (Cathy) Elkins, two daughters, Christy Elkins Deems and Kim Elkins, grandchildren, Cody (Elizabeth) Rollins, Baylee Rollins, Dylan Mosley and Georgie Mosley. He is predeceased by his parents, Lester and Hazel Josey, a sister, Vivian Powell, son, Chad Elkins, and in-laws, Earl and Kathleen Newsome.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
