Hazel Jean Warren Josey

Jean Josey, 88, of Clifton passed away Monday evening, December 5, 2016 at Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 9, at the Clifton Funeral Home Chapel in Clifton with Pastor Tater Paschal of the Bosque County Cowboy Church officiating. Burial will follow at Clifton Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, December 8, at the funeral home.

Jean was born on September 8, 1928 in Yazoo City, Mississippi. She was the daughter of John Albert “Big Daddy” and Hazel (Middleton) Warren. She lived in Yazoo City until moving to Meridian, Texas at the age of 17. She lived there for the next 15 years until returning to Mississippi for 4 years. At that point, she returned “home” to Texas for good. For a number of years, she lived in Cranfills Gap, among other Central Texas communities, before settling in Clifton to be near family.

Among her many interests, she loved to read and crochet. A devoted grandmother, she enjoyed making dolls, little animals and Christmas stockings for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents; ex-husband, Billy Joe Josey; infant son, Jesse Albert Josey; and two brothers, John and Ronnie Warren.

Left to cherish her memory are four children, Joan Evans and husband, Bill, of Clifton, Angela Whitmire of Angleton, James Albert Josey of Lake Jackson, and Melissa Joy Jennings and husband, Steve, of Freeport; ten grandchildren, Trace Hendricks and wife, Desire, Dannie Patterson and wife, Dana, Jody Watson and husband, Casey, Shelley Stracener and husband, Calvin, Sommer Bentley and husband, Aaron, Bret Whitmire and wife, Johanna, Michelle Whitmire and fiancé, Chris Shipman, David Surgent and wife, Becky, Sean Jennings and Darrion Jennings. She also is survived by 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren
