WRENS, Ga. - Hansen Jerald Josey, Sr., 70, loving husband to Carolyn Brannan Rogers Josey and the late Betty Jean Josey, entered into rest Thursday afternoon, January 6, 2011 at University Hospital Heart and Vascular Center. Graveside services will be at 3:30PM on Sunday, January 9, 2011 in the New Bethel Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Inman Gerrald officiating. Born to the late Eddie Mae Smith Josey and the late Noah Ralph Josey, Hansen grew up in Sandersville GA and worked in the maintenance department at Thermal Ceramics for many years. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Other than his family, Hansen's greatest love was music-especially the guitar-and was known as "The Guitar Man". He loved to travel and entertain people-he would sing to anyone at anytime. He was very gregarious and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Hansen was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert A. Josey and Charlie R. Josey. Other survivors include his children, Lawanda Smith (Donald) of Bartow GA, Renee Smith (Larry) of Sandersville GA, Angela Burkett (Douglas) of Warrenville SC, and H. Jerald Josey, Jr. (Angela) of Edgefield SC; two stepsons, Keith Rogers and Jeff Rogers (Shelby); a brother, Howard Josey (Omie Lee) of Riddleville GA; two sisters, Peggy Thigpen (Charles) of Milledgeville GA and Julia Mae Josey of Riddleville GA; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many friends. Pallbearers will be Robert Burkett, Curtis Josey, Deran Josey, Desmond Josey, Hank Josey, Kenneth Josey, Jairus Lane and Robbie Lane. The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home prior to the services on Sunday, January 9, 2011 from 1:00-2:30PM.
