Gladys Irene Smith Josey

 

Funeral services for Gladys Irene Smith Josey will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Welch Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in the Adaton Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Prentiss Gordon will officiate.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Welch Funeral Home, which is handling the arrangements.

Mrs. Josey died Friday, July 29, 2005, at Oktibbeha County Hospital. She was 98. A Noxubee County native, she was a Starkville resident, a homemaker and a Baptist.

She is preceded in death by her husband, retired Chief of Police Thomas Josey, and her son, James Thomas Josey.

Survivors include her daughter, Mildred Anne Josey Lasseter Ebersole of Starkville; two sisters, Mildred Smith Moorehead of Jackson and Ocie Smith Walker of Laurel; six granddaughters, Beth Josey Watson of Amory, Jeanne Josey of Telluride, Colo., Karen Josey Riekhof of Tupelo, Kim Lasseter Houston of Birmingham, Ala., Kay Lasseter Landry of Magnolia, Texas, and Kristana Lasseter of Woodlands, Texas; one grandson, Ward Ebersole of Carlisle, Ark.; one daughter-in-law, Ruth White Josey of Starkville; and 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild
