Gertrude (Gert) Brunet Josey, age 97, a native of Bayou Dularge and resident of Schriever, left this Earth peacefully on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, to enter into eternal rest.
She is survived by her four children, Barbara Josey Rogers of Arkansas; Betty Josey, Robert (Bob) Josey Jr. and wife Charlene, Jimmy Josey and wife, Renea of Houma; grandchildren, Azura Morgan of Georgia, Dustin Josey and wife, Kristin, Ryan Josey of Florida, Timmy Josey and wife, Melissa of Houma, Cami, Chloe', Cory and Kevin; and great-grandchildren, Colton, Addie, Grayson, Jase, Carson, Oliver, Maddox, Kayden, Addison, Godchildren, Edith Toups and Kat Smith; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Josey Sr.; her parents, Alcide Brunet and Alice Theriot Brunet; and her siblings, Margaret Toups, Louis Brunet, Rita Guidry and Alice Henry.

Gertrude was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bridget Catholic Church and served on the board of the Schriever Senior Citizens Center. She was an avid gardener and especially loved her daylilies. She shared her love of flowers and plants with everyone she met, always willing to give a plant or cutting. She was a past member of the Ladies Altar Society, the Daylily Society and Schriever Homemakers.
Gertrude worked at Hebert's Nursery in
Thibodaux and Ganier's Garden Center in Houma for many years. She loved to line dance and paint ceramics and then gave them away to her family and friends. During WWII, she served with the American Red Cross.
She will be greatly missed by her family and by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Schriever from
9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Schriever on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 11 a.m., with burial to follow in St. Bridget Catholic Church Cemetery. Gertrude will be laid to rest with her parents and siblings.
