Gertie Louella Josey Caldwell

 

MAIDEN - Gertie Louella Caldwell, 86, of Maiden, passed away Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Mrs. Caldwell had lived two years at Conover Nursing and Rehab Center in Conover after having a stroke. Born Oct. 17, 1922, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late George M. Josey and Danie Caldwell Josey. She was a charter member of Mt. Anderson Baptist Church in Maiden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bertie Caldwell. She is survived by daughter, Peggy Sue Darling and husband, Danny, of Maiden; granddaughter, Dana Bowman Hughes of Maiden; sister-in-law, Helen Caldwell of Kansas City, Kansas; four nephews and their families, all of Kan.; and companion cat, Dodie. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at Mt. Anderson Baptist Church in Maiden, with the Revs. Donald Cline and Charles Ingle and Mr. Joe Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Anderson Baptist Church, prior to the service.
