OBITUARY

Geraldine Faye Josey

NOVEMBER 25, 1933 – JANUARY 15, 2023

Geraldine Josey (Knickle), 89, of Halifax, passed away peacefully and naturally January 15, 2023. Born in the South Shore of Nova Scotia on November 25, 1933, Geraldine was proud to have called Lunenburg home, and visited regularly even after moving to Halifax at a young age with her late mother, sister, and brother, Beatrice Rafuse, Gretchen O’Halloran, and Wilfred Knickle.

She married the late Russell Josey and they lived together in Halifax for approximately thirty years, and are survived by four children: Gary (Debbie) Josey, Lr. Sackville, Wayne (Isabelle) Josey, Timberlea, Russell (Young-Soon) Josey, South Korea, Catherine Josey, Los Angeles, six grandchildren, Justin (Shauna) Josey, Jeff (Amy) Josey, Jeremy (Pam) Josey, Karen (Josh) Kogan, Patricia (Jean) Josey, Ryan Harrison, and 14 great grandchildren. Geraldine continued to enjoy life to the fullest with her companion, the late Patrick O'Halloran until his passing in 2014 and called the North End of Halifax home for most of her life. She is also survived by nephew Steven (Trish) O’Halloran and a loving niece who supported her care in later years, Terri-Lynn (Marty) Paris.

Geraldine was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind beautiful memories parading her grandchildren and great grandchildren around Northwood Manor.

The Josey family would like to thank her 2nd family - the incredible staff at Northwood Manor, for creating a loving home for over 11 years, and making her stay one of respect, empathetic care, patience and understanding. We are truly thankful for the quality of care received by Geraldine up to and including her journey to end of life. And we are fully aware that the nurses and caregivers who have been by her side since the beginning have the absolute best Geraldine stories to share. Thank you.

A celebration of life will be held tomorrow morning, Tuesday January 18th, 2023 at 10 a.m. at the Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home.
