SAVANNAH, Ga. - Funeral services for Mr. Gene Minick
Brodie will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2005 at 11am at the George Funeral Homes Historic
Downtown Chapel 211 Park Ave. SW, Aiken, SC with pastor Eugene M. Mullikin
officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken. Memorial donations may be made
in the memory of Marzie Brodie to the American Cancer Society 128 Stonemark
Lane, Columbia, SC 29210. Visitation will be at the
funeral home from 10am until the time of the service. Mr. Brodie, 72, died Monday at
his residence in Savannah. He was born in Augusta, GA and had lived in many cities throughout
his career, settling in Aiken, SC in 1975. He traveled extensively during
his retirement and was currently living in Savannah, where he had lived as a young man. He
was a 1951 graduate of Commercial High School, Savannah and he had attended Armstrong College. He had spent most of his working life
as a textile executive for Gambel-Scagmo, Minneapolis, MN. Upon moving to Aiken, he and his late
wife, Marzie, opened The Fabric Mill, which was operated as a family business
until 1987. After retiring from the fabric business, they both worked for
Woodside Development until 1995. Mr. Brodie is survived by a son, Kenneth
Brodie, North
Augusta; a
daughter, Kathy (David) Abney, Aiken and two grandchildren, Luke Abney and
