Emory Roscoe Josey,  September 5, 1934 - May 22, 2015

 

Emory Roscoe Josey, 80, went peacefully home to be with the Lord surrounded by his family on Friday, May 22, 2015. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 2:00PM, Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at the Christ Community Church, 565 Lite-N-Tie Road, Gray, GA 31032. Reverend Rodney McCant will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Ridge Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the Hart's Jones County Chapel, 307 Pecan Lane, Gray, GA from 6:00PM-8:00PM on Monday. Mr. Josey was the son of Emory Spear Josey and Anne Brett Josey. He was born in Riddleville, Georgia on September 5, 1934. He proudly served his county in the U.S. Army as a Green Beret. He was retired from Walthall Oil Company. He was an outdoor writer for the Macon Telegraph and News and a freelance writer for Predator Extreme for many years. He was a founding member, elder and music director of the Christ Community Church. Being an avid outdoor extremist, turkey hunting and predator hunting were at the top of his favorite's list. Survivors include his loving wife Jacqulyne Motes Josey of Jones County; daughter Jody Floyd (Jeff) of Cochran, son Paul Josey of Jones County; step daughter Pamela Dixon (Buster) of Jones County; daughter-in-law, Michele Josey of Jones County; step sons, Jonathon Herndon (Cindy) of Alabama, and Andrew Herndon (Bobby Joe) of Forsyth; grandchildren, Ashley Prendergast (James) of Okinawa, Japan, William Emory Josey of Jones County, Holley Dixon of Jones County and Hunter Dixon (Peyton) of Jones County; sister, Iola Daniel of Sandersville.
