Don Carlton Josey DENVER - Mr. Don Carlton Josey, 69, of Denver, N.C. died Saturday, February 14, 2015, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. Born in Iredell County on February 1, 1946, he was a son of the late David Sidney Josey and Nellie Mae Westmoreland Josey. Don was a retired auto mechanic from Town & Country Ford in Charlotte. He was a member of True Vine Tabernacle and enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandsons tinkering with cars and he saw to it that all children around him had a Christmas every year. He lived his life as Santa Claus for everyone. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Elizabeth Turner Josey, whom he married on May 10, 1969, two daughters, Tracy Lynette Josey Ojeda (Rodolfo) of Virginia Beach, VA and Wendy Josey Heafner (Scott) of Iron Station, N.C.; four sisters, Mary Nell Thompson of Lugoff, S.C., Brenda Walker, Patricia Ann Josey and Vickie Rufty all of Statesville; along with four grandchildren: Austin Josey, Justice Alwran, Gabby Rettenmair and Jaddon Heafner. Services celebrating Don's life will be conducted at 1:00 Thursday at Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rachel Jarvis, Pastor David Lovette and Pastor Barbara Bunton officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with full military rites presented by the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 Wednesday at Nicholson Funeral Home.
