Curtis Josey, 69; service to be later

Curtis F. Josey, 69, of Miami, Fla., formerly of Beaufort, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at Jackson South Community Hospital in Miami.

The family will hold a small memorial service at a later date.

Mr. Josey was a native of Beaufort and attended Beaufort High School in the early 1950s. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1954-1964. The remainder of his life was spent in Miami, Fla., as captain of many fishing and dive boats.

He is survived by his wife, Egda Judy Josey; a daughter, E. Jeannette Josey of Beaufort; three sons, Lester Josey and wife Grace of Pfafftown, Curtis Josey Jr. and wife Lisa of Manteo, and Vance Josey of Raleigh; six grandchildren, BM1 Philip Robinson Jr., U.S. Coast Guard and wife Kim of Norfolk, Va., Kimberly, Andrea and Ian Josey, all of Pfafftown and Savannah and Isabella Josey of Manteo; and two great-grandchildren, Philip "Trey" Robinson III and Presley Robinson.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Wilkins Styron of Beaufort.

The family has requested no flowers, however condolences may be sent to the family in care of his daughter: E. Jeannette Josey, P.O. Box 534, Beaufort, N.C. 28516.

Arrangements are by Branam Funeral Home in Homestead, Fla.
