Clifford Paul Josey

ROCKWELL - Clifford Paul Josey, 81, of Rockwell, passed away May 31, 2008, at the Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Mr. Josey was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Rowan County, a son of the late Lewis L. Josey and Mrs. Lillie Coble Josey. He was educated in Rowan County schools and attended Granite Quarry High School.

Clifford retired from B.R.S. Inc. Construction Co. in Richfield. He was a member of Grace Lower Stone Church and Fulton Masonic Lodge 99.

He was a former Alderman in Rockwell, a U.S. veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. He was also a member of Bostian Heights Senior Citizens Club. He walked daily and spoke to everyone. He was also an avid dancer.

Mr. Josey was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Josey, on Oct. 2, 2000, to whom he was married 47 years.

Surviving are sister Mrs. Lucy Josey Anderson of San Diego, Calif., and a number of nieces and nephews.

Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Powles Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. George Fidler, interim pastor of Grace Lower Stone Church, with burial in Brookhill Memorial Gardens with Masonic Graveside Rites conducted by Fulton Masonic Lodge 99.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Powles Funeral Home from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday.
