Betty Deloris Josey. Sifford

ROCKWELL - Mrs. Betty Delores Josey Sifford, 83, of Rockwell, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, at The Laurels of Salisbury.

Mrs. Sifford was born
Oct. 20, 1931, in Rowan County, daughter of the late Banks and Dorothy Basinger Josey.

Mrs. Sifford attended
Parks School and had worked at Cannon Mills for 12 years. She also was a waitress at Anchor House 12 years and had also worked in the greenhouses at Rockwell Farms.

She was a lifelong member of Organ LuthRead More eran Church and when she was able she was very active in Altar Guild. Her love and passion was gardening and her flowers, and she enjoyed traveling with her husband after he retired.

She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Josey.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John York Sifford, who she married on July 12, 1953; son Michael Dean Sifford and wife "Becky" of Rockwell; daughter Lisa Yates and husband Mark of Faith; grandchildren Wendy Hunsucker and husband Kelly, Ken Sifford and wife Angie, Candace Yates and husband Garret; great-grandchildren Trevor, Kendal, Laney, Joshua and Noah; brother Carl A. Josey; and sisters Helen Castor and Charlotte Crainshaw.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Tuesday, Nov. 4 at Powles Funeral Home from
6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

Services: The service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 5 at
Organ Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. conducted by Pastor Carlin Ours. Mrs. Sifford will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
