Bernice Frances “Bernie” Matiasz went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 21, 2022.

Bernie was born on February 2, 1931, in Niagara Falls, NY and lived there until eight years ago when she relocated to Bliss, NY. Her parents were Bernice (Paukstela) and Frank Teran. On May 16, 1953, she married Walter Matiasz.

Bernie graduated from Niagara Falls High School and devoted her life to raising her family and helping others. Bernice loved traveling with different family members and spending time at their camp in Friendship, NY

Bernie is survived by her four children, David (Lin) Matiasz, Paul (Debbie) Matiasz, Carol (Barry) Nichols, and Frank (Kathy) Matiasz, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren with two more on the way, and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents, and her loving husband, Walter Matiasz who passed away on August 30, 1999.

Bernie was a devout Christian, a prayer warrior and loved spending time reading outdoors and appreciating nature and the beauty of all things God created. While living in Niagara Falls, Bernice was saved and baptized at First Assembly of God Church and later attended Destiny Christian Church. Since moving to Bliss, Bernie has been attending Pioneer Christian Fellowship in Arcade where her memorial service will be held on Friday October 28th, at 11:00am with Pastor Jeff Hokenson officiating.

Bernie was faithful to support many ministries throughout her life and would encourage others to help someone special you may know in need this holiday season. A memorial donation may be given to your church benevolence fund, or fill a shoe box (Samaritan’s Purse) for a special child this Christmas.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home 7 North Main Street Franklinville, NY 14737. Online condolences may be made at https://www.babbitteastonfh.com/
